Day of training
9:00 AM
Athletes should be in Virginia City or Sunnyside lift line ready to load the lift when it opens at 9am and will meet their group at the top of Virginia City (aka, Timing Shack) where they will leave their daypacks and extra skis INSIDE THE CORRAL, ON THE RACKS for the day.
At minimum, it can take 35 minutes from Bozeman to Bridger. Please plan for traffic, poor road conditions and crowds on pow days.
If your kids plan to bring extra skis on the lift, they need to be respectful of others in the lift line.
9:00-9:20
Meet up with group, warm up and talk about daily plan
9:20-9:45
One or two runs with coach for directed freeskiing, skills and drills
9:45-11:30
Laps with group in training courses
11:30-12:15
Lunch. Coaches will review video with athletes when available.
12:15-2:25
U12's: Directed freeskiing with coaches in their assigned groups.
U14+: Option to continue gate training or freeski. Athletes can choose or have coaches recommendation based on individual goals, interest or time of year.
2:25-2:30
End of day wrap-up with group.

Return to top of Virginia City to collect belongings, meet parents and head home.
Evening
Daily video of training runs is typically available in the team google drive.
Typical weekday training day schedule
12:30-1:00pm
At the top of Virginia City, athletes will leave their daypacks and extra skis INSIDE THE CORRAL, ON THE RACKS for the afternoon. Athletes will meet their group at the top of the training course off of Bridger lift's midway station

1:00-1:20
Meet at the top of the course to check in with coaches who are already on the hill. They will do an on-hill warm up and take one or two runs, often with their coach, for directed skills and drills

Laps with group in training courses

Return to top of Virginia City to collect belongings and head home. Athletes generally meet parents at base area.

Review daily training video available in the team google drive.
Hot Topics
Late Arrivals or Separated from Group
If your athlete is late, DIRECT MESSAGE their coach and have them go to the corral at the top of Virginia City (ie. timing shack). Coaches will lap the timing shack and all have a radios, so if a coach goes by, athletes should let that coach know what group they are looking for.
If your athlete gets separated from their group, they should go back to the top of VC (ie, timing shack).
Directed Freeskiing
Athletes must ski with their group. If they want to ski with other friends or parents, they need comunicate with their coaches and coordinate with their parents.
Powder Days
Coaches do their best to ski with athletes on powder days however when there is too much snow, we cannot set training courses and it can be unsafe to operate with groups of younger athletes, especially in deep snow.
Check communication app for training day updates or cancellations when there is more than 4" of new snow. Updates should be posted by 7am.
Parent Help
Don't be shy!!! Stop by the timing shack or the top of the course and see if they need any help. Some ways to help: Slip the course (we can help you learn), follow along when freeskiing especially for groups heading into avalanche terrain, fluff b-net or set hi-viz (if you don't know what that is, ask, we'd love to have more parents help with this)
What to bring to training days
In addition to their typical race gear, here are some additional things to consider:
Appropriate discipline skis and related gear (ie, shin guards for slalom)
Free skis if your athlete is using multiple pairs of skis
Lunch and snacks
Lunch that kids can access and eat independently especially if parents are not able to meet them in the lodge.
Layers and hand warmers. There is often a lot of waiting around outside at the start and it's important that the kids stay warm before getting in the start gate. For extra cold days, consider bringing an extra jacket for your kiddo at the start or to put on at the finish in case their layers don't get carried down.
Ski day pack and avalanche safelty gear (transceiver, probe, shovel) if your athlete is ready for the Fingers, the Ridge, and/or Schlasmans. If you don't know if your athlete is ready, ask your coaches.
