MAP Assessment
MAP Assessment
BHS administers the MAP assessment to Freshman (9th Grade) and Sophomores (10th Grade) once in Fall and once in the Spring.
MAP data is presented in two ways:
1. Average Spring Percentile Rank
- Looking at the average spring percentile rank of 9th and 10th graders dating back to the 2013-14 Academic Year allows us to investigate program efficacy (how well BHS students performed in comparison to peers across the nation) while mitigating the year to year impact that a single cohort of students can have.
10th Grade Students score, on average, in the 49th percentile.
9th Grade Students score, on average, in the 58th percentile.
These results indicate that on average BHS students score near or above the national average on MAP Reading.
10th Grade Students score, on average, in the 56th percentile.
9th Grade Students score, on average, in the 68th percentile.
These results indicate that on average BHS students score above the national average on MAP Reading.
10th Grade Students score, on average, in the 79th percentile.
9th Grade Students score, on average, in the 67th percentile.
These results indicate that on average BHS students score above the national average on MAP Math.
2. Average Fall->Spring Percentile Rank Gain
- Looking at the average Fall->Spring percentile rank gain of 9th and 10th graders dating back to the 2013-14 Academic Year allows us to investigate program efficacy (how much BHS student performance improved or worsened over the course of the academic year in relation to peers across the nation) while mitigating the year to year impact that a single cohort of students can have.
10th Grade Students decrease, on average, 17 percentile rank points from fall to spring on MAP Reading.
9th Grade Students increase, on average, 1.3 percentile rank points from fall to spring on MAP Reading.
These results indicate that on average BHS students increase their relative standing from Fall to Spring in the 9th Grade and decrease their relative standing in 10th Grade.
10th Grade Students decrease, on average, 12 percentile rank points from fall to spring on MAP Language.
9th Grade Students increase, on average, 10 percentile rank points from fall to spring on MAP Language.
These results indicate that on average BHS students increase their relative standing from Fall to Spring in the 9th Grade and decrease their relative standing in 10th Grade.
10th Grade Students increase, on average, 3 percentile rank points from fall to spring on MAP Math.
9th Grade Students decrease, on average, 4 percentile rank points from fall to spring on MAP Math.
These results indicate that on average BHS students slightly decrease their relative standing from Fall to Spring in 9th Grade and increase their relative standing in 10th Grade

ACT Assessment
In accordance with Nebraska State Statute 79-760, all Beatrice High School juniors take the ACT Test.
A Breakdown of ACT Scores
Before presenting BHS student scores, the following is a brief breakdown of the ELA, Math and Science ACT scores in relation to predicted student performance in credit-bearing, first year courses post graduation:
ACT Benchmark:
- Students that meet or exceed the benchmark are equipped to enroll and succeed in a credit-bearing first-year course at a two-year or four-year institution, trade school or technical school.
On Track:
- Students are approaching the benchmark and are likely to access credit-bearing course.
Developing:
- Students are likely to need developmental courses prior to being able to access credit bearing course.
BHS ACT Scores
The table above presents average BHS student ACT data. Two points are important to make:
- On average, BHS Juniors are "On Track" for success at a post secondary institution.
- The roughly 2 point drop in ACT scores from the 2017 to the 2018 results is largely attributed to the state mandate to test ALL Juniors.
