General Geography

The first nine weeks of the semester we spend our time going over general geography, or what we like to call the core concepts. We begin by looking at the 5 Themes of Geography, everything we talk about and people use in their daily lives can be tied back to those 5 Themes. From there we cover a lot of things very quickly, those include:

  • Continents and Oceans
  • Maps (Projections/Types/Components)
  • Earth's Position (Rotation/Revolution)
  • Latitude and Longitude
  • Weather and Climate
  • Time Zones
  • Geographic Features (Land and Water)
  • Culture
  • Economy
