Central America

For the second half of the third nine weeks we cover Central America and the Caribbean. Because it does not encompass as much land as the previous three countries or South America, and their proximity to each other, we combine them. For Central America specifically we look at all 7 countries and their capitals. We also discuss some cultural differences (Belize's official language) and watch an interesting video on the Panama Canal. During this unit we have a Central America Country Report. This is an individual report about the country of their choice. Students will spend two days in a lab researching information about their country. Then the must hand draw their country's flag (no tracing!). Since there are only 7 countries, several students usually pick the same one. With that in mind they must join forces and plan a presentation by sharing their facts and creating a plan to split the presentation. Below are various assignments and resource materials for Central America.
