Hi! My name is Jen Mahoney!

I am one of the school counselors here at Bow Elementary. I work with grades 2, 3, and 4 here at BES. I graduated from Plymouth State University with my Masters in School Counseling and this is my third year at Bow!

As a school counselor, I work with students individually, in small groups, and sometimes in the classroom. I am here to support ALL students academically, socially, and emotionally in order to help them reach their fullest potential! Mrs. Ulrich and I work closely with teachers, parents, and administration in order to best serve the students here at Bow. Teachers or parents may ask us to talk with their student or child about a specific concern or to just check in with them. Students are welcome to make an appointment or stop by either of our offices to talk about a particular topic/issue or to just say hello or have lunch! 

When a student talks to me, it is confidential. UNLESS a student tells me that they are going to hurt someone, that they are hurting themselves, that they are being hurt/abused by someone, or if they give me permission to tell another trusted adult. In that instance, I will take appropriate measures to ensure the student's safety.

There are times that a student may talk to me about something that I think a parent/guardian, teacher, or other adult needs to be made aware. I will talk about the situation with the student and work with the student to inform the necessary individuals. This can be difficult and overwhelming for the student, however a student's well being is always the priority.
