School Policies
Welcome Back MJP Families! As we return to school after a few years of disrupted learning, it is important to come back to seeing ourselves as proud scholars and our community as a place for learning and achievement. In order to rebuild and reestablish this commitment to excellence, we wanted to create clear systems and expectations so that we can rise up and move forward as the Outstanding World Leaders we have always been. The policies linked below are intended to help clarify expectations for systems and learning. Having clarity around routines and expectations will keep us all focused on being the best members of this shared community that we can be and thus the focus of our time together can be on learning and growth.
Attendance Policy
Research has shown that one of the key factors in determining if a student is on track to graduate is attendance throughout the child’s education. In order to learn the skills and concepts they need, students must be in school. The more time out of school, the further a child falls behind in academic and social development.
Healthy Food Initiative
The Boston Public Schools supports lifelong healthy eating habits for all students and staff, and is committed to addressing the increasing rates of diet-related health consequences among these groups. BPS shall promote healthy lifestyles and appropriate nutritional practices for all students.
Uniform Policy
Research shows that when students dress for success, they are more likely to reach their full academic potential. Therefore, for the 2022-2023 school year, we are requiring that students wear the designated Michael J. Perkins uniform every day.
