I teach Advanced Algebra, Statistics, and AP Statistics in the 2020-2021 school year. This is my sixth year teaching at the Burke and my tenth year teaching within Boston Public Schools. Prior to teaching I spent twenty years in the medical device industry in various roles, primarily in finance and marketing.
In addition to math, I am certified in special education (moderate) and SEI (sheltered english immersion). I have a BA from Cornell University (major in psychology) and an MBA from Boston College (concentrations in finance and international marketing). I am also currently earning a masters degree in education from Cambridge College.
My goal for my students is to develop a life long love of learning. Math is a graduation requirement and an important life skill, but it is more a way for students to learn how to think about a problem, develop and assess solution pathways, and persevere through challenges and obstacles to arrive at a solution (a correct one, hopefully). Students that develop these skills and traits will become successful adults and life long learners.
