The BPS STEM Department is committed to ensure that all students, regardless of their race, sex, abilities, and language receive the best education and opportunities they deserve. In order to achieve this, we will work with the Office of Opportunity Gaps and the Office of Equity to ensure that our educators understand what Culturally Relevant teaching looks like and how to old themselves and their colleagues accountable. The Webinar to the left is entitled: Racism & Anti-racism. This webinar aims to (a) Establish working definitions for racism, antiracism, healing and social-political context, (b) Read text(s) to further guide thinking, (c) Respond to the Essential Questions: Considering COVID-19, and past and current socio-political context for Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, SWD, EL, and economically impacted populations, how can educators best process, heal and provide a powerful learning experience this year and beyond? How can we best restore and sustain our relationships and heal? Adult to adult? Adult to student? Student to student? (d) Introduce Strategic Plan , OAG Policy, CLSP and other tools (CLSP Toolkit, CRIOP, Continuum on Becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Institution, Abolitionist Teaching Network, and more) to further align classroom, school and district level policies and practices
