This week, children will take a close look at the changes they notice in the weather by recording the daily temperature.
They will also describe two signs of spring—changes in a tree’s growth and changes in weather conditions.
Record the temperature of the day.
Find a branch on a tree near your home and draw a detailed picture of it.
Please include:
size and shape of the branch
any leaves or flowers growing on the branch
any animals (birds, squirrels, insects…) that you see on the branch
What does the temperature tell us about the season?
What do you notice about this branch?
What is happening on it?
What do you think this branch will look like next week?
Record the temperature of the day.
Draw and write about the current weather condition.
How did the temperature change from the last time you recorded it?
What changes, if any, do you notice about the weather?
What is the current weather condition? (rainy, windy, snowy…)
What do you think the weather will be like tomorrow?
How does the weather affect the plants and animals around us?
Make an instrument! You might use: plastic containers, rubber bands, string, metal bowls or pans, wooden spoons or sticks, straws, metal spoons... What else can you use?
Make a different kind of instrument! Use different materials and see what different kinds of sounds you can make.
What kind of music can you make? Can you play along to a song that you love? Ask your family members to play with you to make a band!
