Tumblebooks (K-5): read kid-friendly interactive picture books.
Adobe Spark (4-12): create videos, web pages, and images to share with your friends, family, and school.
Khan Academy (7-12): explore online courses on a wide variety of subjects.
Work with a friend or trusted adult to make a daily schedule and try your best to stick to it.
Try to find a comfortable space that has few distractions.
Don’t try to do too much. This is a stressful time for all of us. If you are feeling stressed, take a break: It’s ok.
Try to finish all assignments (online/non-online) on time, but understand that it will take a little bit of time to get used to learning online.
Check in with your teachers regularly.
Do your best to stay away from TV, TikTok, social media, YouTube, or multi-tasking when working.
If you do not understand your assignments, please contact your teachers or Principal.
Don’t forget to eat, sleep, and exercise! Breakfast/lunch are available for pick-up at these locations, Monday - Friday.
Take a quick break from the screen every 30 minutes.
Set a weekly and daily schedule.
Involve your student in creating the schedule, expectations, and goals. Ask them about what they have been assigned or what they would like to learn about.
Build in breaks, outdoor time, meals, and social time.
There are a lot of virtual learning apps available. Check reviews from Common Sense Media to see what others are saying about the app.
Be mindful of the amount of time your child spends on technology. Alternate online learning with “unplugged” (non-online) activities such as reading, crafts, board games, and other activities.
Be realistic about goals and expectations. This is a stressful time for all of us; it is more important to have peace of mind than getting anxious over not completing a task. Everyone -- including kids -- needs some unstructured time.
Please aid your child in navigating their classes online. Sometimes, it takes a little bit of time to get used to learning online.
If possible, provide a distraction-free environment for your child to work with a desk and a chair.

Google Classroom is an online classroom where students can access resources and assignments shared by their teachers.
How does my child access Google Classroom at home?
Google Classroom can be accessed on any internet-enabled device including computers, Chromebooks, and smartphones.
Students login using their BPS Gmail (______@bostonk12.org) and BPS password. Unsure about your student’s email or password? Check out our tip sheet or contact our BPSTechnology Help Desk: 617-635-9200.
📱 From your phone:
Go to the App Store or Google Play Store from your device and install “Google Classroom” app. Please use your BPS Gmail account to sign in for the first time.
💻 From a computer:
Open your browser, log into your BPS Gmail account, and go to classroom.google.com.

What is Clever?
Clever is a “portal” where you can access many apps used by your student’s school or classroom teacher(s). Visit www.bostonpublicschools.org/backpack to access Clever.
How can my student login?
There are two ways to access Clever:
use your BPS Gmail and password
sign in with a Clever Badge
Option 1: Use your BPS Gmail and password.
Press the "Log in with Google" button. You should login with your BPS Gmail and password.
Option 2: Sign in with a Clever Badge.
On a BPS-managed Chromebook
Turn on the Chromebook and click “Next” at the login screen to be presented with the camera window. If students want to login with their Gmail account, they should click “Sign in with a different account” instead.
On Mac and Windows Devices
Go to the Clever login screen by visiting www.clever.com/in/bostonpublic. Click the QR code icon to the right of the "Login with Google" button to be presented with the camera window.
On an iOS Device
Download the Clever app from the App Store on your iOS device. Once installed, badges can be used to log into Clever.
You cannot login to backpack from the Safari or Chrome browsers on an iPad. You must also download and install the learning application on your iOS device.
On an Android Device
The Clever app is not available for Android devices, but you can still access Clever using Badges on an Android device by visiting www.clever.com/in/bostonpublic through a web browser.
