RAIDER TEAM

 

Description. The Raider Team is a military skills and fitness team.  The Team builds expertise in outdoor adventure, survival skills and physical fitness.  It provides JROTC cadets with a competitive program in mentally and physically challenging training events.  Raiders compete against other JROTC programs throughout the region. 

They perform tasks that may be found in many military units today such as: 


Expectations.  It requires solid grades (strict academic requirements), upper body strength, significant cardiovascular stamina (running 3-5 miles per Raider Meet), and total commitment to the team. Raiders “IS NOT” for everybody!!!

Raider Team members have a physical workout at each practice where emphasis is on upper-body strength and cardiovascular fitness. Along with frequent Physical Training, Team members work on individual events as mentioned above. The workload of an average Raider Team member will prepare them for the various annual competitions against Raider Teams of other High Schools.


Eligibility. All cadets are eligible to volunteer for the team provided they meet the following requirements:


1. Discipline, physical and mentally tough

2. Be approved by the SASI/ASI and have the desire, motivation, and capability of becoming a Raider

3. Agree to participate in and/or support Raider, PT and Obstacle Course competitions

4. Agree to become certified in CPR and First Aid and be knowledge in orienteering/land navigation


Raiders’ is physically demanding and takes a lot of time. If you’re up for a challenge then Raiders might just be for you!!!


Pay It Forward.  They also participate in community service projects, such as supporting Red River Wildlife Refuge, supporting State Park rangers, collaborating with Adventure Scouting USA or the Girl Scouts of America, Haughton Middle School visit...etc.


Activities/Competitions. Competitions will be conducted at local, state, or national levels. Upon successful completion of a competition, cadets may qualify for more than one Raider award.
