HHS Marksmanship Team
Marksmanship Team
Haughton High School Marksmanship Team is a JROTC 3 Position and Silhouette Air Rifle team that follows JROTC, Civilian Marksmanship Program, 4-H and NRA rules. The team always includes a shooter, a coach, and a team; however the members of the team can choose to compete as individuals at competitions or work together as a team. Being part of this team is an honor. The members are all hard working, disciplined cadets who just love to shoot. The Marksmanship competition season begins in August and depending on how success of a year the team has, may end as late as June. Practices are on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M, with an occasional practice on a Friday before a competition.
Expectations. Team members are required to have solid grades (strict academic requirements), strong self-discipline, and total commitment to the team.
Eligibility. All cadets are eligible to tryout for the team, usually in August, provided they meet the following requirements:
1. Completed the JROTC CMP Safety Test (Annually)
2. Be approved by the SAI/AI and have the desire, motivation, and capability to be a Marksman
3. Agrees to participate in and/or support Marksmanship (JROTC, CMP and 4-H) in-person and postal competitions
The Marksmanship Team will require more Leadership Development Requirement time than any other HHS JROTC team or club, if you plan to excel!
Activities/Competitions. Each year we compete in local, state, and/or national level competitions to include travel within the Shreveport/Bossier area, to central and south Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Ohio, Nebraska and Colorado. Upon successful completion and scoring of a competition, cadets may qualify for one or more Marksmanship badges/awards.
