Leadership is the accomplishment of a goal through the direction of human assistants. The person “who successfully marshals his human collaborators to achieve particular ends is a leader. A great leader is one who can do so day after day, and year after year, in a wide variety of circumstances.” (HBR 2004)
Obviously, this matters even more when processes, structures and rules fail to create the expected results.
But how to develop your leadership? Leadership is tightly linked with notions like vision, influence, being a role model, creating momentum… as well as listening, adapting, deciding… Leadership come in many flavors and colors and cannot be reduced to a single model and must meet the needs of the organization.
Some questions that really matter when starting a coaching?
what are the challenges faced by the organization?
what are my real responsibilities in the face of these challenges?
what should I do and what should I get from others?
how can I be “the right person” to face these challenges?
These questions, and many others, frame and articulate the exchange between the manager and his coach.
