PeaceLove Foundation Creative Leaders Project
PeaceLove Foundation uses expressive art to talk about mental health and wellness. Thanks to generous funding, we are excited to offer our peer-to-peer Creative Leaders Project to high school students at no cost to them. This 1 day training, which takes place at our studio in Pawtucket, offers an opportunity for students to come and learn to facilitate 3 expressive art workshops for their peers and community members. They will leave the training with all of the materials they need, as well as a binder of lessons that they can run. We will continue to supply the art supplies for the academic year.
We would love to have this opportunity shared with your students. We are offering the training August 12 or August 14 from 9:30a-3:45p. Students only need to attend 1 day, and will receive a small stipend for completing the training. Please contact Kim DiOrio-Rooney at kimberly@peacelove.org for more information.
Good morning, Community Leaders & Collaborators. My name is Wole Akinbi, I'm a Facilitator & Community Liaison for half full, llc, but I'm also the Program Coordinator for R.I. Teen Institute. R.I. Teen Institute is a 36-year-old youth leadership conference for R.I. High school that spans over the course of 5 days. It is a research-based model that aims at empowering youth to learn about challenges they face as they navigate adolescence and become young leaders in their respective social circles and communities.
We are currently recruiting 35 young people to attend the 2nd Teen Institute of 2026. At the first 1 we facilitated during April Break of this year; we had a total of 44 young people including 8 alumni youth staff. This time around we are looking to recruit as many young people as possible to hit our target # 35 participants. On top of recruiting participants, we are also looking to recruit a crew of qualified, and seasoned adult staff!
Our adult staff team will be comprised of 15 adults. 10 Family Group & Action Group Leaders, along with 5 Admin Staff, including an onsite Nurse and Clinician. Each adult staff will need to commit to the full week of the experience, that includes the overnight component and will receive a $2,000 taxable stipend for their time. Adults who apply to be staff will also need to attend preparatory trainings with our fiscal agent Tides Family Services on child safety, mandatory reporting etc.
Attached is a copy of the youth application, staff application, and a copy of the August 2026 Teen Institute recruitment flyer! We'll be grateful with any assistance you all can provide in the recruitment process. Best of luck to all the educators wrapping up the school year with graduations this week! Sending you all healing energy as you round out the year! If folks have any questions, please let me know via text, email, or phone. Have a great rest of the week!

Creative Leaders Project
PeaceLove was founded to make the journey to peace of mind a little more fun.
As a Creative Leader, students will become peer leaders in introducing expressive arts to middle and high
school students. The program provides opportunities to improve public speaking, problem solving, critical
thinking, and time management through facilitation of the Creative Leaders Project curriculum. Students will
learn about the benefits of using expressive art to explore daily struggles that many young people face and
begin to introduce various tools youth can use to find peace of mind.

GIRLS WHO CODE:
I am thrilled to share that applications are now open for Girls Who Code’s Pathways summer program!
Pathways is a free, virtual program that empowers high school girls and non-binary students of all experience levels — including rising 9th graders, graduating seniors, and returning participants — to explore AI, Game Design, Cybersecurity, and more, while learning how to build tech for good. The program is entirely flexible in how participants choose to learn and requires no prior coding experience. Students complete courses at their own pace over seven weeks, from June 29 to August 14.
Beyond coding, students gain real-world insights through Partner Events with leading tech organizations, connect with peers through Girls Who Code’s private Discord community, and join optional Student Hours for live support. Participants earn a certificate for each completed course and join Girls Who Code’s lifelong alumni network, gaining access to mentorship, internships, and career opportunities in tech.
Students can apply by February 25th for priority consideration. The application closes on April 10th.
Could you pass along our flyer and share this email with your team so interested students can apply? We would love to meet them this summer!

ACTIVISM / ADVOCACY / INTERNSHIP!:
I am the Internship Director at TurnUp, a 501(c)(3) non-partisan non-profit organization dedicated to increasing youth civic education, empowerment, and engagement. We were featured in Forbes as the standout non-profit organization.
I am reaching out to invite your students at Blackstone Academy Charter to apply to our free Civics and Activism Remote Internship. We have been working with high school students year round since 2019 and we are excited to bring this invitation to students at Blackstone Academy Charter. Here is the application link.
The internship's format is tailored to accommodate the ever fluctuating commitments and responsibilities of your students. Our program is fully remote, offers rolling admission and has a flexible time frame and schedule. Your students will have the opportunity to grow into more capable and responsible citizens and to develop their professional skills. Students join remote teams that are energized by students from around the country who work on amplifying youth civic engagement. Along with our unique curriculum, peer to peer learning and expert speakers deepen their experience.
The program is free and the hours students commit can be counted as community service hours. TurnUp is authorized to give out awards and certificates, including The President’s Volunteer Service Award. The internship has also been invaluable for dedicated interns to extend the impact of their learning and growth into earning college letters of recommendation and for bolstering their resumes.
We would like to invite your students to apply. The application link is here at bit.ly/tuinternship and the deadline for applications is rolling.
Here are a few links to learn more about our program and to a flyer to share with your students: a flyer, a detailed description of our program, and our website.
If you have further questions, I would welcome the opportunity to talk with you about the program. Please feel free to sign up to join an information session with me here. We would be honored to be placed on your list of recommended internship opportunities.
