DOWNCITY DESIGN PROGRAMS: CHECK THEM OUT! SOME COOLLLLLL STUFF!
The Pawtucket Prevention Coalition is seeking interested youth to participate, ideally 2. These individuals would represent the youth voice of the coalition & participate in a wider regional youth group located in Woonsocket which would meet probably quarterly.
The coalition meets on the last Tuesday of each month (except July) at 3:30pm until around 4:45/5pm. Community service hours will be given to the involved youth. There will be multiple other community service hours available at various events throughout the year, like the St. Patrick's parade, Drug Take Back days, the Red Ribbon Rally, the World No Tobacco Day Poetry Slam, and much more. Youth who volunteer for this current availability will be primary candidates for induction into the Pawtucket Teen Hall of Fame in June.
Please contact Diane DuFresne at diane_dufresne@yahoo.com or 401-663-4947 and let Rhonda know if you apply! Thank you!
BROWN POLITICAL REVIEW HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM:
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Ava, and I am a student at Brown University and a Senior Editor for the Brown Political Review, Brown’s leading student-run political publication.
I am writing to share an opportunity for your students to apply to the Spring 2026 Brown Political Review High School Program. Over the course of three months, selected students will join a cohort of peers from the Rhode Island area to work closely with our editors to pitch, research, and write a political essay featured on our official website.
Through weekly meetings and one-to-one mentorship, participants will gain firsthand experience in political research and op-ed writing, developing key journalistic and analytical skills. They will have the chance to explore local, national, and world issues, with past examples ranging from the spotted lantern fly epidemic to dispersed basing in the Arctic. In addition, the program is fully virtual and free of charge.
Applications are due Friday, January 30 at 11:59 PM. Interested students may apply through the google form linked here. I have also attached a fact sheet with additional program details and a poster that you are welcome to share with students.
Please feel free to reach out with further questions. We would be excited to work with your students, especially as we hope to keep the program local. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Warm regards,
Ava Rahman
