Virtual School

Home Learning at secondary

Dear Secondary Parents,

This site is designed to give you access to information regarding the Secondary Virtual School experience and some useful materials. Whilst lessons are being delivered using other more dynamic platforms, this site provides access to our daily Wellbeing menu of activities, the BIS Secondary Library page, and co-curricular activities to enhance our students' experiences.

In recent years, Learning Technology has played an important role in developing both staff and students' educational experiences at the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City. Our teachers' successful use of, and our students' familiarity with, these technologies in the classroom have allowed learning to continue in these unusual circumstances with excellent provision for all.

A range of approaches and methodologies are being deployed by our team of subject-specialist teachers. The wide-array of learning technologies in our toolkit allow us to deliver bespoke learning that match the needs of every learner, tailored to all subject areas.

We hope this site will provide you with the guidance you need to support your child(ren) through this period of virtual schooling. Please get in touch should you need further information.

School Day

Our daily routines are unchanged, with all students following a regular school timetable. Students will experience a variety of approaches to lessons to include both synchronous and asynchronous learning. This enables both continuity and familiarity for our students, as well as providing variety and allowing them to structure their learning across the week in a manageable way.

Secondary students experience a blend of synchronous (all students working together with the teacher in real-time) and asynchronous (students working at their own pace) learning activities across each week, tailored towards their needs. They engage in a learning dialogue with their teachers at least once per week, and work both independently and collaboratively with their peers. They are also in contact with their Form Tutor and Tutor Group, and their Head of Year.
