8th Grade Volleyball

The volleyball season is coming to an end! Tournaments are taking place on October 14th, 15th, and 16th. B2 is the only 8th grade team going into the tournament undefeated. Their coach Isabel Cleary has been playing volleyball for fifteen years, and is now coaching the 8th grade B volleyball team at Horizon. She has been coaching for nine years and made the A1 team when she played at Horizon. She also played for four years in college at the University of Dubuque, Iowa. One of her players this year, Bella Walth, was interviewed and mentioned how much she loved to play volleyball. She plays libero when the position is available but outside during the school season. Bella has been playing volleyball for five years. Kylie Quandt, player on the C team, was also interviewed. She has been playing volleyball for three years and plays because she likes to be active. Her coach, Chad Miller, is an Algebra 2 teacher at Century. He has been coaching volleyball for sixteen years. He has coached at Oaks, Harvey, and Valley City. Mark Hager is the Athletics Director and coaches the A teams for volleyball as well as track. He has been coaching at Horizon for twenty-five years. Abby Fosland, a setter and right side for the A team, has been playing volleyball for eight years. Abby, Kylie, and Bella all enjoy playing and that is why they play. Abby and Kylie are planning to play in high school but Bella, “hasn't put all of her eggs in a basket”. Witness these great players at the tournaments on October 14th, 15th, and 16th.
