Haunted Fort

Are you looking for a good scare? Well, Halloween is just around the corner, and Fort Lincoln is turning from a state park into your very own nightmares! If you like a fright, then this is the place for you.

Fort Lincoln, located 7 miles south of Mandan, was a military fort established in 1907. It was built as an infantry and calvary post. Nearby, is the “Haunted House” of General CusteR.. Custer lived there during his fight with the Native Americans who settled there first.

Although you can only come on Fridays and Saturdays, this Fort will spook you for life! There is a variety in what you can do there. October 1-2 was the Spookless Nights from 7-10 pm. Those were the nights you could bring your young ones for something fun. From October 8th to the 29th, is the Main Event. This is what will scare you, but not as much as Darkness Unleashed night. Darkness Unleashed is the SCARIEST night, on the 30th, and this is only for the extremely brave. There is one more event, however, on October 24th. This is for the children who want to party instead of get scared, or the Halloween Kids Bash.

There was a survey sent out to students here at Horizon. The questions were whether or not they have gone to the haunted fort, how scary it was from 1-10, and if they are going this year. Surprisingly, only 31.8% of students said that they have gone to the fort before, On a scale of 1-10, most people said that it was around a five on the “Scary Scale”. Around 23% of students are going, while 55% are hopeful to go this year. Hopefully the 68% of you can experience these frights!
