“Goal!” Horizon Middle School boys soccer season is coming to an end, but it’s not over yet. Alex Halvorson, the 8th-grade boy’s soccer coordinator, and Scott Kaubisch, the 8th-grade boy’s soccer coach, are leading the boys to a competitive soccer season. After an interview with Elvin Lin, he said he has been playing soccer for 3.5 years, likes playing with his friends, and getting better every time he practices, plays defense, plans to play in high school, and enjoys playing a lot. Another interview was done, and David Jankoviak answered that same question. He said he plays because he likes seeing his friends, and thinks he is good at it. A survey was done, and 209 people responded to it. Out of the 209 responses, 14.8% of them play soccer. In the responses to the question, why do you play soccer, 15/59 people say they played soccer because it’s fun, but there were also some unique responses including “I get to free my mind for 90 minutes straight” and “I play it to get out of my house.” The last question that was asked is what position they play. Out of 39 valid responses, 7 players play forward, 11 play in midfield, 5 people enjoy the wing, and 18 play in defense. The boys practice from 5:30-7:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
