Lightning distances may be monitored via the National Weather Service website, a lightning detection app (suggest MyLightningTracker), or visual observation
The detection method will be monitored by, and the safety procedures will be executed by a chosen administrator (Athletic Director or Athletic Trainer) who will be the sole decision maker regarding this policy when lightning is present during outdoor athletic participation

**Safe Areas = Inside the school, hard top vehicles with windows closed, buses.
The following ARE NOT considered safe shelter spaces: Picnic/park/sun shelters, storage sheds, tents, dugouts, gazebos, concession stands, press boxes, open garages.
Tall objects, elevated areas, trees, poles and bodies of water should be avoided

Call 911, Activate EMS
Initiate CPR protocol with arrival of AED
If the scene is not safe, wait until you can provide care and then move the victim to a safe area where you can monitor their condition until advanced emergency personnel arrives
