Coaches should hold a Preseason Meeting with parents and student-athletes. Before you announce that meeting you should:
Clear the date with Athletic Administration and reserve a school facility if necessary.
Submit any documents you'll be distributing at the meeting to Athletic Administration for approval.
You should at minimum address the following topics at the Preseason meeting:

Each team has its own team page at bishopmanogueathletics/com. Team schedules are also displayed on this site. If you'd like to post an announcement to your team's page email jackie.cavilia@bishopmanogue.org.
TEAM NEWS
There are several other ways to share team announcement and accomplishments:
Miner TV is the school's video forum for daily student announcements. This is a great place to announce tryouts, practice schedules, big upcoming games, etc. Email your info to jackie.cavilia@bishopmanogue.org AND mtv@students.bishopmanogue.org.
The Wire is the weekly communication to parents. Email your info to jackie.cavilia@bishopmanogue.org AND nikolette.dickey@bishopmanogue.org.
Social Media accounts reach the entire Manogue family. Email your news to jackie.cavilia@bishopmanogue.org AND nikolette.dickey@bishopmanogue.org. Photographs are key!
TRYOUTS
Every effort should be made to invite and include as many student-athletes in your program that staffing and safety will allow. Cutting any student-athlete from a team should not be taken lightly.
Tryouts for all sports and all student-athletes must be conducted for a minimum of two days.
Communicate the following to all student-athletes:
What criteria will be used to select the team. These criteria should be sent to the Athletic Director prior to tryouts.
The time frame over which those observations will be made for team selection. Tryout dates for any sport will conform to NIAA tryout regulations.
Coaches should meet with all individuals who are cut if possible. More than one coach should be in attendance at the meetings in which this information is communicated to the student-athlete.
ROSTERS
Coaches must submit a final roster to the Athletic Secretary as soon as teams are finalized.
Coaches should confirm with the Athletic Secretary that team members are cleared before competition. PLAYERS CAN'T BE ROSTERED UNTIL ATHLETIC CLEARANCE IS COMPLETED
MINIMUM PRACTICE REQUIREMENTS
All athletes must practice 5 days before they can play in their next sport.
Football and Basketball players must practice five days before they can play in their next scheduled athletic event if the two sports overlap.
See NIAA rules on practices are HERE.
SUNDAY PRACTICES
Sunday practices and games are not allowed.
See the NIAA rules regarding Sunday activities HERE.
SUPERVISION
Teams and student-athletes may only use Bishop Manogue facilities and equipment while under the direct supervision of the coaching staff, faculty or employed staff member.
A coach or coaches must remain on campus until all student-athletes leave the campus or are picked up by parents or guardians.
Secure the field or facility if you are the last coach or staff member to use the field or facility prior to leaving campus
SCHEDULE AND FACILITIES
Practice schedules and locations should be confirmed with the Athletic Director prior to announcing to your team.
Coaches are welcome to recruit volunteers for team tasks, and parent volunteers will receive credit toward their required service hours. Please remember the following if you have parent volunteers:
All volunteers MUST comply with BMCHS and Diocese requirements for volunteering [link pending.]
Coaches are responsible for providing volunteers with a way to track their hours. We suggest this Volunteer Log Sheet, which you can then turn in to the Athletic Secretary, or this online Parent Service Hours Reporting Form. You may also email this information to jackie.cavilia@bishopmanogue.org.
Volunteers hours should be submitted by the conclusion of the season.
Parents who have questions about their service hour balance can contact denise.sosa@bishopmanogue.org.
Coaches should complete the following tasks at the conclusion of each season. Stipends will not be issued until these are completed.
Allocate and request coaching stipends from the Athletic Director.
Submit a list of student-athletes who qualify for certificates and varsity letters to the Athletic Secretary.
Submit a list of student-athletes who qualify for P.E. credit (basically all rostered student-athletes who completed season) to the registrar, maryann.michels@bishopmanogue.org.
Collect and inventory uniforms and team gear. Turn in the inventory list to the Athletic Director.
Return keys to the Athletic Director.
BMCHS Coaches cannot engage in any activities that could be construed as recruiting.
Coaches and faculty must comply with applicable NIAA rules. View them HERE.
Coaches and faculty may not solicit student-athletes or their families to attend BMCHS.
Coaches and faculty may contact and communicate with students and families who are current enrollees of the following Diocesan schools: St. Albert’s, Little Flower, Our Lady of the Snows, and St. Theresa in Carson City.
Individuals from any other schools with questions about BMCHS should be referred directly to the Director of Admissions.
We regularly celebrate the academic and athletic success of our senior student-athletes with signing days .
We have outlined small distinctions between true National Letter of Intent signings for scholarshipped NCAA Division I and II student-athletes, and celebratory signings for athletes that do not fall into that category. Those distinctions can be found in our Athletics Signing Policy.
