PIR Day Trade and step-up credit is not guaranteed for all of these opportunities. PIR Trade is awarded at the discretion of the Executive Director of Curriculum and step-up is based on contract language and PDAAC approval. To request step-up credit for any of the eligible opportunities below, complete the district pre-approval process before beginning the course.

Are you looking to grow your computer science teaching skills? AVID, in partnership with Code.org, is offering virtual workshops that will help boost your coding and computer science skills. Join Traci for a virtual CSF (K-5) workshop, which will be held April 29th & May 6th (total of 6 OPI renewal units). More info and register below.

EXPLORING THE MAGIC OF CODING & AI

This course will be offered by the GTCC Summer Institute, and does require a registration fee. The course will be held online July 10th & 11th, and teachers will earn 15 OPI renewal units. In this course we will explore both computer science and Artificial Intelligence, including easy to use, teacher and student friendly tools and resources. BPS teachers will need special approval for step-up and/or PIR Day Trade.

Make Learning visible with seesaw

This workshop will focus on the multimodal tools and formative assessment features within Seesaw that help students make their thinking and learning visible. Teachers will learn how to utilize the multimodal tools within Seesaw to help students share their learning, and explore Seesaw activities that are already created that align with district adopted resources. We will also explore the formative assessment creation tool within Seesaw and teachers will have the opportunity to create formative assessments to support our district adopted standards and curriculum.

PBS Media Lab 

Join Montana PBS and special guest Traci Piltz  to learn the ins and outs of making media with elementary students. Montana PBS Media Lab is an interactive and hands-on virtual learning experience! 

K-5 teachers will learn about the PBS Media Literacy framework encompassing six dynamic approaches: Spark, Model, Explore, Create, Document, and Share. Teachers will create projects and share them at the end of the workshop! 

seesaw connect 2024

Seesaw Connect is a free virtual conference featuring workshops and presentations for educators, by educators from around the world. Teachers will learn ways to effectively utilize Seesaw in their classes, as well as other topics for integrating technology into their classrooms like STEM, NGSS practices, maker spaces and classroom routines.  Receive OPI credit for the sessions you attend live by submitting your completion certificates at bit.ly/24connect.

MEDIA LITERACY CERTIFICATION

Apple professional learning virtual conferences

Explore helpful resources, practice new skills, and reflect on ways Apple technology can support great learning and teaching. Hosted by Apple Professional Learning Specialists, these free hands-on sessions run for approximately 60 minutes and are offered twice daily, Monday through Thursday. No OPI renewal units awarded.

Go Guardian

This is a blended course where you will learn and earn on your own using Go Guardian University and then meet for a collaborative session to discuss best practices. There will be several options for the collaborative session. 

Screencastify to Blend & Flip

This training will be blended and flip. You'll start out by joining a Google Classroom as a learner to flip your learning on screencasting. Then we will meet via Zoom to collaborate and answer questions. Finally you will create for your students and reflect on screencasting as a tool for learning. 

Canva

This 4 hour training will be blended and flipped. You'll start out by joining a Google Classroom as a learner to flip your learning on Canva. Then we will meet via Zoom, new date TBD,  to collaborate and answer questions. Finally you will create for your students and reflect on Canva as a tool for learning. 

Tuesdays throughout the Year

Techie TImes

Blended sessions on Tuesdays during the year will teach you all about the Google Suite. We will explore Classroom, YouTube, Forms, Sheets & Sites while you show your skills by earning your Ninja Badges. 

These sessions are funded by grants through MRESA III, at MSUB, and are free to you. Learn more and register here. 

These do work for trade and step up but you'll need to do the paperwork. 

Ninja Google Workplace Powers

Earn Google Ninja badges on two Google tools of your choice while participating with Google Meet and Google Classroom. The course requires a 1.5 Google Meet and then submission in Google Classroom. Register on Midas. Remember to fill out the appropriate process to earn step up hours, it is approved for 6 hours.
