BPS TIS - Google Certification

All courses have been listed in Midas.

The Google Certified Educator program, developed by Google for Education, allows teachers to demonstrate their proficiency in using Google tools to enhance teaching and learning. After completing the online training and passing the corresponding certification exam, educators will earn an official Google Certified Educator badge and recognition from Google.

**Billings Public Schools teachers—use the buttons below to sign up for the Google Certification (in Midas) and apply for Step Up credit (if you are seeking Step-Up credit) before completing the Google Certified Educator Level 1 or Level 2 exams.

Professional Development Hours

Teachers will receive 3 hours of professional development credit for the time spent taking the Google Certified Educator exam (Level 1 or Level 2).

Please note: Any additional time spent preparing for or reviewing materials is optional and will not count toward official PD hours. The button below will help you brush up on the basic use of Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals.

*Google Certified Educator status is valid for 3 years. When it’s time to recertify, teachers may take the recertification exam (links below) and will receive an additional 3 hours of professional development credit for the recertification exam.

Google Certification Level 1 & 2

Level 1

Designed for educators who have a foundational understanding of Google tools. It validates your ability to integrate tools like Google Classroom, Docs, Drive, Forms, and more into your teaching to enhance productivity and student learning.

Google Certified Educator Exam

Level 2

For educators who are more experienced with Google Workspace tools. This certification demonstrates advanced skills in using technology to impact the classroom, including data analysis with Sheets, multimedia creation, and collaboration through digital tools.

Recertification

Recertification Level 1

Recertification Level 2

Recertification is for educators who wish to maintain their Google Certified Educator status after the 3-year certification period expires. The process involves retaking the Level 1 or Level 2 exam to demonstrate continued proficiency with Google Workspace tools and current best practices in technology integration. Recertification ensures that educators stay up to date with new features and continue to effectively use Google tools to support teaching and learning.

**The link for recertification should have been emailed to you by Google when they let you know your certification is expiring.
