Mission Statement
Men and Women for Others
A Le Moyne education encourages you to integrate contemplation and action. Our students become men and women with well-developed minds, generous hearts and reflective souls - “agents of change” who work to bring about a more just, humane world.
Commitment to Service
Service is more than “the right thing to do.” It’s what makes us human, makes us whole. We weave service into everything you do, from the community project in your history or English class to the afternoon you spend serving dinner at a local soup kitchen.
Commitment to Inclusion
Your college years are truly a time to learn about the world around you – to observe and ask questions; to meet other people whose thoughts, ideals and opinions can vary widely from your own, and to learn to respect and appreciate them. We are proud of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. We offer our community the opportunity to show an appreciation for a variety of cultures, and the chance to understand global issues .
Commitment to Social Justice
In the classroom and beyond, social justice is at the core of all that we do at Le Moyne. It is the fabric of our Jesuit identity. You will learn to think for yourself and about others, asking questions about the world in which we live – and the one you want to inherit.
Commitment to Ethics
As a Jesuit institution, we are dedicated to creating a more just and ethical society. This commitment shapes the classes and the activities we offer and the opportunities you'll have on The Heights. We also have special events throughout the year focused on understanding the role that ethics plays in your life. At Le Moyne, you'll begin this journey your first year by completing a course in Moral Philosophy as part of the Core Curriculum.
Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability at Le Moyne is founded on the Jesuit tradition of serving humanity and environmental stewardship. We support practices that:
makes our campus a model of environmental sustainability
teaches and leads defending the environment
prepares us to positively impact the lives of current and future generations and our common home, the Earth
