College & Career Readiness

College and career readiness indicators are a series of measurement indicators as predictors of completion of K-12 education.  Those indicators include, high school graduation, course work, meeting benchmark on college readiness exams (PSAT, SAT and AP), and college enrollment and persistence.

Graduation Rate

Four (4) year cohort graduation rate is an indicator of success as a system.   This rate tracks the number and percentage of students who graduate in four years.  It is our goal to maintain our high graduation rate of 96%.  The charts below reflect our graduation rate since 2013-2014.

On-Track to High School Graduation

Percentage of 9th graders earning at least five (5) full-year credits in the year. This indicator also applies to the district/school where the 9th graders were enrolled when they were in 8th grade.

NEASC Accreditation

NEASC Collaborative Conferece

The NEASC Committee on Public Elementary, Middle, and High Schools — a merger of the former Committee on Public Secondary Schools (CPSS) and Committee on Public Elementary and Middle Schools (CPEMS) — engaged for several years in a purposeful reflection on the value of Accreditation and re-designed the K-12 Public School Accreditation process to better meet the changing needs of member schools. The Collaborative Conference was held at Bethel High School in the Fall of 2020.

Meeting Benchmark on College Readiness Exam

Percentage of students in grades 11 and 12 achieving CCR benchmark on at least one of the following: Smarter Balanced 11th or SAT or ACT or AP or IB.  Prior to 2021-2022 this data was last reported 2018-19.

Advanced Placement Exams

Bethel High School is committed to a rigorous curriculum which  prepares students to excel in college.   While the College Board tracks district progress by the number of students who have access and take AP courses and the results.  They generally view any score over, at, or above a "3" to be an indication of college readiness.  Colleges and universities often offer college credit to students based on their school's requirements.

PSAT - SAT

The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test created and administered by the College Board. The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.  Click here to view the Bethel High School SAT Cohort Final Report

College Enrollment & Persistence

The National Clearinghouse tracks aggregate data on college enrollment, persistence, and completion rates.   The data lags several years, but does provide some information about our graduates.  College enrollment is defined as students who enroll in a two or four-year institution after graduation.  Persistence is those who re-enroll after sophomore year.  The national average for achievement of a Bachelor’s Degree is 6 years.  Completion of a Bachelor's degree is linked to a variety of factors including finances, life-changes/personal circumstances, changes in academic majors, readiness, etc.  While we at Bethel Public Schools can not control many of these factors, we can control college preparedness.
