Connecticut’s Next Generation Accountability System provides a comprehensive way to measure how well schools and districts are supporting student growth, learning, and success. Rather than relying solely on test scores, the system uses multiple indicators—such as academic achievement, graduation rates, college readiness, and access to the arts—to give a more complete picture of school performance. The goal is to recognize strengths, identify areas for growth, and ensure all students are prepared for life after high school.
Each indicator below is linked to a different aspect of student learning and well-being. See the Next Generation Accountability System: Indicator Overview for information about each indicator comprising the system.

Connecticut’s Next Generation Accountability System is designed to ensure equity and success for all students, including those who may need additional support. The state closely monitors the performance of “high-needs” student groups - including students with disabilities (receiving special education services), multilingual leaners, and students from low-income famlies.
