2023-2024 May/ June Internship

What is it?

Senior Pathways is an innovative program that offers seniors the ability to pursue career development in an area of interest during their school day.  There are three "pathways" that students can choose from.  Please check out a detailed description below for more information! 

Am I eligible?

This program is open to seniors who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, achieve a grade of C- or higher for all junior year courses (Full Year) or all senior year courses (May-June), successfully meet graduation credit and attendance requirements, has not lost credit in any class due to attendance, is able to independently assume all the duties and responsibilities of their site, able to commit to all required days, acknowledge that you have met the civil and social expectations of Ridge and that suspensions, detentions, or other disciplinary infractions will be considered for ineligibility.

What if I don't have one of the above criteria?

Any student who wishes to participate in Senior Pathways but doesn't meet all eligibility requirements may appeal to the Principal to determine if approval would be granted.

How do I apply?

Interested students should speak with either their school counselor or Senior Pathways program coordinators Ms. Hughes ryanhughes@bernardsboe.com  or Mrs. McGivney smcgivney@bernardsboe.com for more information. Students can add Senior Pathways to their course requests during scheduling.


Internship

Full Year

Students can participate in a full year internship experience for the duration of the school year. Students are expected to submit a monthly timesheet signed by their supervisor, monthly one page journal entry, and a quarterly supervisor evaluation. Students must participate in a panel discussion about their experience at the end of the school year. Students must stay at the same internship site for duration of the program unless there is an extenuating circumstance. Appeals can be made to the program coordinators.

May/June

Students can participate in a four week long internship during the last four weeks of the school year. Students are expected to submit a weekly timesheet signed by their supervisor, weekly one page journal entry, and one supervisor evaluation at the end of the four weeks. Students must stay at the same internship site for duration of the program unless there is an extenuating circumstance. Appeals can be made to the program coordinators.

Early College Credit

Students can apply to an approved higher level education institution and enroll at least 6 or more credits of coursework per semester.  The cost of the course(s) is the responsibility of the student and family.


School to Work

Students can participate in a paid work experience related to a field of interest during the school day. Students will be able to leave school and utilize 1-4 blocks (based on necessary graduation requirements) to complete the required hours.
