You can find what fees are due, if a payment has been received or when you should make your next payment in your Student Account on UMIS. You can log-in and view your current account status at any time. Look for the Financial Information heading in the side menu. Your account login details can be found of your 'New Student IT Form'.

If you are unsure how to use UMIS to check payments, you can ask the Student Finance Team or Student Affairs for help.

Tuition fees are set per program and based on citizenship. For non-EU students, the fees are paid in semester instalments and are due at the beginning of each semester. EU students have the opportunity to pay their semester fees on a semester basis or in 6 monthly instalments per semester. Your fees can always be found on your study contract and you can review payments and upcoming payments in your UMIS account.

BAU Global Network graduates enjoy a 25% discount on further studies at Whitecliffe UoAS. This will be reflected in your payment plan on UMIS. Our graduates who decide to do a Master program at the university also enjoy a 25% discount on their Master program fees.

Fees are due on the first day of every semester for students with non-EU citizenship, and the first of each month for EU students. The Semester ticket must be paid at the beginning of each semester.

You can find the bank details here, in the BI Student Resources in MS Teams. You should include your Student ID number as your payment reference (Verwendungszweck).

Lastschrift is the agreement to allow the university to collect money from your account. This can be useful to set up a running payment of fees. You can find the form in the Contract and Finances folder on MS Teams and contact chancellorsoffice@berlin-international.de for more information. 

Payments should be received before the due date, but it can happen that payments made on the due date will appear late. If you have missed a payment, please make the missing payment as soon as possible. You can contact the Student Finance Office to discuss a payment plan if needed: student.finances@berlin-international.de. Also refer to the terms of your contract.  

Tuition fees can only be refunded in the case that a visa is rejected or if a student withdraws within the first 14 days after the contract has been signed. You should always refer to your study contract for detailed information. 

The university offers several scholarships. The Christian Wulff Scholarship, for example, covers 50 percent of the tuition fee starting from the time it is given until the end of the regular studies. It is awarded to one Bachelor’s or Master’s student for outstanding academic achievements and extraordinary engagement within the BI community.

Further scholarships and prizes are given out regularly by the university in cooperation with other organizations, such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The DAAD Prize is a yearly award for outstanding achievements of international students at German universities. Also in cooperation with the DAAD, the university frequently awards scholarships to international students. If you are considering an internship or semester abroad, there might be further opportunities for financial support either through the university or other organizations. BAföG refers to financial support from the German Office for Educational Funding. There are two parts of the funding, one half is a grant which does not have to be repaid and the other half is a loan which is repayable. All programs are eligible for BAföG and the Studierendenwerk Berlin are responsible for administering BAföG applications from all Berlin students. The team in the Student Affairs Office can complete the forms for any financial support from other countries or forms requested by BAföG for the university to complete.
