Academics

Each student is assigned an academic and internship advisor from their respective faculty. The academic and internship advisor is the first contact for questions, advice and concerns about academic matters, or the internship that is part of most BA programs. If you are unsure who your advisor is, please ask the Faculty Coordinators or Student Affairs Office. 

The Academic Calendar contains all important dates throughout the year, including teaching and exam periods, semester breaks and public holidays. The latest version is always found on the university website under Info Material.

The Examinations Office registers students to their courses automatically at the beginning of the semester. At the beginning of each semester, please check your schedule and courses on MS Teams. If there are any missing courses on MS Teams, you should contact your Faculty Coordinator and also the registrar on registration@berlin-international.de. 

Important note! 

If you are an irregular or transfer student, this step is especially important to ensure registration to the correct courses when not following the standard schedule.

The internship is a mandatory component of all bachelor programs, except the BA Architecture program. It is usually completed over a 10-week period. There is no restriction for where a student completes their internship, some students go back to their home country, or travel somewhere new, and some stay in Berlin to start networking. For those students who need to complete an internship, the academic advisor will also be your internship advisor. They will be your point of contact during the internship search and application process. Internships need to be approved before being started.
