The ECYEH program is an initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Education based on the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. This federal legislation guarantees that children and youth experiencing housing instability can access a free, appropriate, public education.
Our team is dedicated to ensuring that all students experiencing housing instability have an equitable opportunity to succeed in school. Through our collaboration with local schools and community partners, we address educational barriers faced by families and unaccompanied youth. We educate the public about the realities of homelessness, aiming to reduce stigma and raise awareness of the federal rights that protect eligible students.
Congratulations to Zach Milch, Program Administrator at the Berks County Intermediate Unit and former McKinney-Vento liaison and Emily Snisky, Families in Transition Social Worker at Reading School District! Thank you for going above and beyond to support students experiencing homelessness.
We appreciate all that you do!
