We have had an incredible time celebrating World Book Day! We used 'The Sky Garden' by Linda Sarah.
When we came back from sharing our costumes in assembly, we began to create our own 3D Secret Sky Garden. Thank you Mrs Cairns for organising and inspiring us with this. Mr Beamish (CEO of LAT) popped into the room and couldn't help but be drawn into the creation process and joined the children with a large 'wow' when Mrs Cairns unveiled the finished product!
Then Little Bears came to join us and help with our craft! Lullingstone were exemplary, every child showed so much kindness and patience. All of the staff in the room were incredibly proud of Lullingstone and they were a real credit to themselves.
We used our stimulus 'The Secret Sky Garden' to write diary entries. We wrote how Funni felt at the start of the text, when the garden was 'greyer than a Monday sky'. Following this, we wrote about Funni's dreams and aspirations using precise and powerful vocabulary.
To finish off our day, we shared books and read with Milton Chantry. Again, Lullingstone were superb. They welcomed Milton Chantry so warmly and with open arms. They read to them, discussed the text and answered questions.
