Parent Surveys
Thank you to everyone for taking the time to respond to the Trust Parent Survey. Your comments are valued and are vital in continuing to shape the future successes of our academy. We have been very humbled by many of the positive comments and continue to be grateful for your support.
A brief summary from the long answers can be seen below.
What the academy does well:
Great staff. Friendly and professional. Great to see the staff at the gates. Presence of senior leadership team. Management and teachers fantastic - it is extremely transparent their love of teaching and concerns for the well-being of the children.
Timely feedback. Always happy to help. Engagement. Listen to everyone’s needs.
Finding new ways to support children.
Extra-curricular clubs
Lesson plans and learning styles. Great curriculum.
Safety and inclusion.
Everything.
What the academy could do better:
Communication with parents involving parents and the local community in the life of the school.
Further support for the families of pupils with SEND.
Car park - although know that the school is doing everything they can to help.
What we are doing:
We are continuing with phase two of our communications revision with a greater focus on how we share information with and from the wider community and the day-to-day learning and teaching in the academy.
Phase one of the aforementioned review included the flow of communication regarding SEND provision. Phase two involves providing more information for parents about the external professional services and resources available to support both the academy and families. We are also delighted to be working with the recently appointed Trust SEND advisor.
The Trust continues to work with Local Authority and advisors to urgently find a resolution to issues concerning the car park. We are grateful for your acknowledgement of our efforts to date and we truly appreciate your support with this.
Upcoming Roadworks
As you will be aware, there has been a delay to the start of the planned upcoming road works due to commence soon in our surrounding area. We believe this to be for a few weeks but have not been informed directly. Please see the specific page in this bulletin for further details.
Science Week- STEM Visitor
We have been fortunate enough to have an engineer visit the academy to talk with pupils about their career. The engineer who came to speak with us was from Transcover, who specialise in tarpaulin Sheeting Systems for Trucks & Lorries.
The Big Plastic Count
As an IB school, we are committed to promoting long term sustainability and we would like to get everyone involved with a great project called 'The Big Plastic Count' that coincides with National Science Week. The children will come home with a tally sheet to record all of the different types of plastic packaging that are thrown away or recycled at home. Each class will then be given a link that they can upload their data to which will be used to create a class and whole school carbon footprint. The data that is collected nationally will then be used to encourage the government to take action on the amount of plastic still being produced. We are sure that you will agree that we all have a responsibility to care for our planet and this is a small task that could have a big impact on the long term sustainability of our planet. Look out for the email with more information.
