You may be aware that work is due to commence immediately on the scheme to widen Bearsted Road between the roundabout at its junction with New Cut Road and the roundabout at the southern end of the A249, which KCC refer to as the Newnham Court Roundabout. There will be three phases of roadworks that will have a significant impact upon the traffic and access.
Phase 1:
Bearsted Road and Ware Street will be closed between the KIMS Hospital Roundabout to Hockers Lane, from 4th March 2024, with an estimated completion date of 26th May 2024. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site in the image below.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bearsted Road, New Cut
Road, A20 Ashford Road, Roundwell, The Street, The Green, Ware Street and Vice
Versa.
Phase 2:
New Cut Road will be closed between the KIMS Hospital Roundabout and
Grovewood Drive North, from 1st June 2024, with an estimated completion date
of 31st July 2024. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Phase 3:
Road from the roundabout at Next to the roundabout at KIMs will close in February 2025, an update will be provided nearer the time.
