This week in Year 5 has been full of creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning across the curriculum.
For inquiry, the children have been working in groups to plan and write the scripts for their persuasive adverts encouraging people to visit Greece. They focused on using key persuasive features, as well as including stage directions in brackets to show actions and guide how lines should be delivered.
Once their scripts were completed, the groups practised their performances and took turns filming their adverts. They then edited their videos by adding pictures, music, and sound effects to enhance their message and make their adverts more engaging. We have now watched all of the adverts as a class and given constructive feedback, which the children will use to improve and refine their scripts further.
In DT, the children have been exploring mechanisms by making Christmas cards that include moving parts using pulleys and levers, as part of our science, this module, on 'forces'. They were provided with materials and step-by-step instructions. The children showed great perseverance and problem-solving skills while constructing their mechanisms and testing how they worked.
Overall, it has been a productive and imaginative week, with the children demonstrating excellent teamwork, communication, and design skills.
