What a busy and exciting week we have had in Year 1! The children have truly made us all extremely proud with their incredible Christmas show, 'A Snowman at Sunset'.
They have worked so hard over the past few weeks to learn their lines and songs, delivering every word in a clear and confident way. They all absolutely loved learning the festive songs, making up actions, and putting on a brilliant show for everyone to enjoy. A huge thank you must go to all parents/carers for their fantastic support in providing, making, and purchasing some truly AMAZING costumes – they really brought the whole performance to life!
When we haven't been practicing for our show, the children have continued their focused learning in the classroom. In Maths, we've been busy exploring the world of 2D and 3D shapes, making patterns and designing wonderful shape pictures.
We have also been growing our imagination and creativity skills by furthering our inquiry work. Inspired by the text 'The Bear and the Piano,' the children used their knowledge of shapes to create a fantastic New York skyline. They also applied the fun and energetic style of artist Mr Doodle to their designs, making sure to think about all the different shapes they used to construct their towers and buildings.
We are so proud of all the children this week for their resilience, hard work, and great performance skills. We look forward to seeing them for our last week of festive fun before the holidays!
