We are delighted to share that Mrs Huckstepp will be returning from her maternity leave and teaching in Maison Dieu, Year 1, from January 2026 for the remainder of the academic year. She spent the morning in class last Friday, and everyone was thrilled to welcome her back! Mrs Huckstepp and Mrs Harrison will share the responsibility of Class Teacher, meaning the children will continue to benefit from two familiar teachers, providing them with consistency, continuity and reassurance.

How Learning Is Organised 

Learning in the PYP is organised around six transdisciplinary themes:

• Who we are

• Where we are in place and time

• How we express ourselves

• How the world works

• How we organise ourselves

• Sharing the planet

These themes are explored through units of inquiry, which are designed to be engaging, relevant, challenging, and significant. Each unit integrates knowledge and skills from different subject areas, allowing children to make connections between their learning and the real world.

The Five Essential Elements

• Knowledge – What children know.

• Concepts – What they understand (e.g. Change, Connection, Perspective).

• Skills (ATL) – Thinking, Communication, Social, Research, Self-Management.

• Attitudes – Values like Empathy, Integrity, Respect.

• Action – Applying learning to make a difference.
