What an exciting first week back for Year 4. Despite the freezing conditions the children have been full of excitement being reunited with friends and mesmerised by the heavy snow flurries on Tuesday.
Building on their Anglo Saxon knowledge from Module 3 , the children are beginning to learn about the Vikings. Linking to our Central Idea , we have focused on the key differences in law and order during Anglo Saxon and Viking rule. The classrooms have been full of some thought provoking discussions about how laws and justice have changed over time.
In just a few days, the children have already learnt so much about power, leadership and how different life was during this period of history. A highlight has been becoming Anglo Saxons versus Vikings in the classroom. In a lively and passionate debate, both sides presented convincing arguments defending their people when accused of 'who stole the sheep?'. Year 4 definitely has some very influential speakers!
In Art Inquiry we are starting to explore and understand collage. The children are experimenting with colours, textures and techniques to see how they can vary their designs using the same materials.
Indoor PE has been great fun with a lively dance and movement session to keep everyone warm earlier in the week . Quebec House were also put through their paces with a fitness and cardio exercise class on Thursday whilst Lullingstone were swimming.
Our first Year 4 swimming lesson has been a resounding success. Lullingstone have had great fun in the water and the children should be so proud of all their efforts. Every child showed enthusiasm to learn and progress. All of Lullingstone displayed great self-management skills following instructions and organising themselves. Well done Year 4!
