We have had a fantastic start to our brand-new inquiry, 'How human choices and actions affect the environment.' It has been wonderful to see the children begin to explore the impact we have on the world around us and discuss the responsibility we all share. In Maths, we have been diving deep into our work on multiplication and division, building our confidence and fluency with these key operations. In Literacy, we have been captivated by our new book, 'The Tin Forest'. The children have been busy writing vivid setting descriptions, using descriptive language to paint a picture of the story's unique world. This creativity spilled over into our Art lessons, where we explored colour wash techniques, learning how to blend hues to create atmospheric backgrounds inspired by the illustrations in our book. Our physical and personal development has been just as active. In PE, we took to the floor to dance like the weather, using movement to express everything from gentle breezes to powerful storms. In PSHE, we held some very important and mature discussions about consent and gaining permission, learning why these are so vital in our daily lives. Finally, in RE, we have been recognising different religious celebrations, exploring the traditions and meanings behind special events in various cultures. It has been a truly diverse and inspiring week of learning!
