Module 3 has begun with great enthusiasm as we explore our new central idea, Patterns help us understand the world. At the start of the module, the children enjoyed sharing their prior knowledge about patterns and discussing their ideas with both adults and peers. These discussions have helped to build confidence and develop communication skills. We have also explored the story Pitter Pattern, which inspired the children to think creatively and begin designing and creating their own patterns. It has been wonderful to see the imagination and creativity shown across both Scotney and Sissinghurst classes.
In Phonics, we have spent time recapping previously taught sounds and applying them through reading and writing CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. This has helped to reinforce children’s confidence and fluency. This week, the children were also introduced to a new digraph, /qu/, and have been practising recognising, reading, and writing words containing this sound.
We are incredibly proud of how well the Reception children have returned after the break, demonstrating resilience, focus, and taking risks within their learning. Thank you, as always, for your continued support at home — it plays an important role in your child’s progress.
