This week has been one of significant reflection for Year 6. In connection with Remembrance Day, three of our pupils spoke with great courage about their personal experiences with conflict. They shared how these events have impacted them and continue to do so, telling moving stories about the kindness of strangers and the strength shown by their parents and themselves. The rest of the class was incredibly respectful of their bravery. It was a powerful discussion that helped the children put their own lives into a different perspective and reflect on their own circumstances.
Building on this theme, we then considered conflicts that may arise in school. We discussed how we could effectively resolve these issues to lead to peace and justice, focusing on the importance of clear communication, effective conferencing, and considering the scale of the problem.
Our scientific exploration has led us to the core concepts of evolution and inheritance. For this week's challenge, we became hands-on palaeontologists. By analysing fossil photographs, we developed crucial skills in deducing and hypothesising what these long-extinct creatures would have looked like, what they consumed, and where they ultimately lived.
