This week, Year One have been absolute superstars, showing independence in their learning across spelling, reading, grammar, and punctuation! We’ve loved spending extra time on activities that have helped us consolidate and extend our knowledge in maths, writing and phonics.
As part of our PSHE learning, we’ve been thinking carefully about road safety. The children enjoyed visiting the road markings by the trim trail to practise how to cross the road safely. They listened carefully, looked both ways, and talked about the importance of stopping, looking, and listening before crossing. We then built on this learning in Geography by exploring simple maps and creating our own, using our understanding of safe routes and familiar places.
We also spent time learning about the importance of Remembrance Day. The children showed great respect as we discussed why we remember, and they enjoyed creating their own poppy crafts to mark the occasion.
Well done, Year One — we are so proud of your hard work, enthusiasm, and thoughtful awareness in all aspects of your learning this week!
