This week in Year 4, the children have been exploring the chronology of early British history. They have worked together to build a timeline, placing key periods in order and stopping at the era of the Vikings. The pupils investigated where the Anglo-Saxons originated and why groups such as the Angles, Saxons and Jutes migrated to Britain, using push and pull factors to understand their journeys.
The children also labelled maps to show the countries these groups came from, as well as the names of the early kingdoms within Britain during this period.
We also marked Remembrance Day this week by taking part in a respectful two-minute silence. Today, the children enjoyed celebrating Children in Need, learning about the charity’s work and discussing why it is important to raise money to support children and families across the UK.
