What a great start to the term. Year 6 has been immersed in the profound impact of World War II, and their work has been truly impressive.
Our creative writing journey began with the powerful animation 'Beyond the Lines,' inspiring the children to develop and write incredibly atmospheric pieces. We've also been considering the varied perspectives of children's experiences during the war. By using primary sources, the children have learned about the diverse (both positive and negative) experiences of evacuees and have successfully transformed this learning into insightful diary entries.
To deepen their understanding, the children have been enjoying our two core texts: 'Once' by Morris Gleitzman and 'Rose Blanche' by Christophe Gallaz. These stories are beginning to develop a crucial understanding of the experiences of children living in Poland and Germany during World War II.
