Year 5 have had a fantastic start to the term! We’ve enthusiastically dived into our new central idea — exploring the fascinating world of Ancient Greek civilisation. We’ve learned about the seven features that define a civilisation and discovered how the Greeks began to build and expand their powerful empire.
In Art, we sketched the three distinct types of Greek columns and explored how Pythagoras’ theorem influenced not only Greek architecture but also modern building design.
We’ve also been thoroughly enjoying Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, which has sparked our curiosity about the Greek gods and goddesses.
This week also saw the start of our new science inquiry on ‘forces’. The children explored the meaning of forces and carried out an experiment on how forces against resistance can cause movement.
