Year 2 have had an excellent start to the module and have started learning all about our new central idea and exploring our first line of inquiry with enthusiasm. This has included thinking about the definition of a community and then identifying human and physical features within Maidstone, helping pupils to build a stronger connection to their local area.
During history, the children explored the Gunpowder Plot, learning about Guy Fawkes and the reasons behind celebrating bonfire night. They were surprised to learn that he didn’t come up with the plan himself, but was the first to be caught!
In maths, the children continued to strengthen their skills in addition and subtraction, using practical activities and problem-solving challenges to deepen their understanding. In art, the children began learning about printmaking by collecting texture rubbings and experimenting with ways to create repeating patterns. Science lessons explored how animals, including humans, have offspring and experience changes throughout their life cycles. Well done year 2, what a super week!
