Coach Christian Kearns 

Christian (Minnick) Kearns - has been involved/played tennis since the age of 7. She is from Laurinburg, NC and graduated from Scotland High School in 2007. There she lettered in Women's Varsity Tennis for 4 years while receiving All Conference Awards and reaching the Semi-final Round of Dual Team Championships with her Fighting Scots Teammates and multiple other Conference and Regional Individual wins and Team Dual Teams. She also lettered in Women's Varsity Basketball for 2 years.

After graduation, Coach Kearns received a NCAA Division II Tennis Scholarship at UNC Pembroke and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics Education. While receiving academic honors at UNCP, Coach Kearns was also the Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) her senior year and assisted in fundraisers and athlete involvement around the university.

After student teaching at Lumberton Senior High School in the Fall, she took a math position  in the 9th grade academy in the spring and assisted in coaching the Men's Tennis Team with Kristine Keith (School counselor at West Brunswick High School).

In 2012, Coach Kearns made the decision to move to the beach and took a Math Position at South Brunswick High School. Other than teaching math, Coach Kearns joined the Cougars as the assistant coach to former Men's tennis coach John Walls and Women's tennis coach Debbie Adams for both teams. Coach Kearns took over the as the head coach of the women's tennis team in 2014 and took over the men's tennis team in 2015. She is coming up on her 10th season as the Head Coach of the Women's Tennis Team and coached the Men's tennis team for 7 years before stepping down and handing over the team to former player and student Jarrett Walls. 

Through her time as tennis coach at South, she has had multiple players nominated and chosen for All Conference Awards, Regional Awards and one Player of the Year while also being voted 2017 Men's Tennis Coach of the Year as well. Other accomplishments: having players finish 1st/2nd place in the conference tournament and qualify/placing in the 3A Regional Tennis Tournament. In 2017 she had her first player qualify for the 3A Men's State Tennis Tournament and in 2021 had three players from the Women's Tennis Team qualify for the State Tournament. She also lead her 2021 Women's team to their first Bid to the 1st Round of the Dual Team State Championships since taking over as head coach. 

Coach Kearns married her husband James Kearns, in May of 2022 and shares with him her step-son Luke, step-daughter Emma and their dog Callie.
