Battle of the Books 2024-2025 Season
Celebrating Brunswick County Schools Middle & Elementary Teams
In March 2025, Brunswick County Schools hosted their annual Battle of the Books competitions for all elementary and middle school teams at Odell Williamson Auditorium at Brunswick Community College.
The middle school competition on March 11 brought nail-biting excitement down the last round as Cedar Grove Middle School took first place! Town Creek Middle School placed second overall.
For the elementary competition on March 27, Town Creek Elementary ended the day at first place, with Union Elementary following closely behind in second place.
Congratulations to the Cedar Grove Battle of the Books team for earning second place at the Regional Competition in New Bern!
Brunswick County Schools is thankful for all of the families, coaches, students, and volunteers who made these special days of reading celebration ones to remember!
Several things come into play here!
1) Terms of Service: Your Netflix account Terms of Service state that the account is for your personal, entertainment use. Your classroom is neither personal nor entertainment. The same goes for all other streaming accounts.
2) Certain Netflix Original documentaries have been deemed for educational use; HOWEVER, there is no way to filter these from the rest of the Netflix content.
3) Movies used in the classroom must meet Fair Use guidelines. In order to meet these, the movie must be tied directly to a content standard (no showing movies for rewards or holidays). In addition, they must be acquired legally and preferably from a vendor with licensing right for viewing.
We have a form that should be completed and then signed by your school administrator when showing any movie. See your media coordinator for more information.
