In January of 2021, the Brunswick County Schools Digital Learning and School Library Programs Department kicked off our Be Cyber Safe district digital citizenship initiative. As part of this initiative, we develop monthly thematic packages organized by grade level that include varying resources for teacher and student-led exploration in addition to family supports.
How can you access and use the resource? Check out the directions below or watch this user guide!

NC Portrait of a Graduate Alignment
The Be Cyber Safe monthly packages help contribute to the development of the student skills described in the statewide Portrait expectations. Many of the shared "I can..." statements have direct correlation to a multitude of topics. Specifically, activities throughout the units focus on...
The importance of Personal Responsibility (Privacy & Security, Responsible Use & Constructive Engagement, and Digital Footprint & Identity).
A strong grasp of Empathy (Cyberbullying & Hate Speech, Positive Talk & Relationships, and Media Balance & Well-Being).
The development of strong Communication Skills (Consumers & Producers of Information and Online Advertisements & Marketplace).
