When students come to the library for Enrichment classes each week at VWES, they are not only selecting books to check out and read, but they are engaging in a variety of activities and lessons! The library allows students to come to a place where creativity and curiosity are encouraged!
Recently, fifth grade students spent time writing their D.A.R.E. essays with Mrs. Beam. Students used their D.A.R.E. handbooks and notes as their primary resource to reflect on what they learned during the 10 week program. After writing, they worked together to peer edit and enhance their final copy. The papers will be judged by SRO Deputy Morris and the top 5 will win a fun summer camp including visits to Myrtle Waves, Planet Fun and Alligator Adventures!
Third grade students spent time in February researching a president of their choice, using BrainPop as their resource. Fourth and fifth graders have been researching African Americans who have had a positive influence in our country, for Black History Month. They watched a short video, compiled their facts, then created a biographical poster design in Canva!
Students are loving Canva and the unlimited options of customizing, editing and creating their own designs. They have learned a variety of skills and terminology such as elements, animation, audio, graphics, text, font styles and display. This is a fun way to express what they have learned in a visual presentation, with their own individual style!
Finally, we are ready to battle! The VWES Battle of the Books team, composed of 10 fourth graders and 2 fifth graders, has been working hard since September, preparing for their March 19 competition! These students have read “most” of the 15 required titles and have been practicing together since November. They are excited to show what they know and have been super dedicated to this extracurricular activity! Also, the North Carolina School Media Association posted next year’s list recently… You can take a “sneak peek” HERE!
Best of luck to all elementary BOB teams!
The right to stream music from personal accounts like Spotify, Apple Music, and more comes down to one thing: an application's terms of service. Just like with video streaming services like Netflix, most music streaming services' terms of service state that your account is intended for your personal, noncommercial use only. Places like restaurants, schools, stores, salons, dance studios, and radio stations do not fall under the definition for personal use.
Permission to play in these spaces typically requires accounts specifically made for commercial use. These accounts handle the necessary licensing for you and your listening community.
Always check your streaming platform's terms of service to determine appropriate and legal use!
