Updates From South Brunswick Middle

by Jennifer Gillam, Media Coordinator

After 40+ years, the SBMS media center recently underwent a much anticipated renovations. Old bookcases that jutted out into the floor were replaced with sleek shelving that hugs the walls of the perimeter. Bulky furniture with stained fabric could not be easily reconfigured, and the large circulation desk that took up an entire corner of the space was removed. We brought in brighter, modern light-weight tables and chairs that can easily be reconfigured to accommodate classes of any size, and events of any style.  To follow along with common post-secondary library styles, tables and chairs of different heights and styles as well as soft-seating booths with dry erase table tops now scatter the space. The purpose is to make the Media Center a space where students are comfortable reading, studying, or working in groups, and teachers have a versatile area to use.  This new dream space is completely student-centered and designed to have comfortable options for students of all learning styles.

A huge shout-out goes to Boy Scout Troop 238 for all of their hard work in boxing up books and shelves before the renovation, and unboxing and organizing all of the 11,000+ books post-renovation.

Can I share my Teachers Pay Teachers Resources with my team?  I paid for them.

The short answer is no.

According to the Teachers Pay Teachers FAQs, "Resources on Teachers Pay Teachers are licensed for individual use. Individual Licenses are non-transferable and may not be used by or reallocated to a different educator. Your license doesn’t cover use by another friend or colleague."  This means that sharing the resources you purchase from Teachers Pay Teachers can not be shared with your team of teachers or PLCs.
